Meet the MS in Health Informatics Program Director
Dr. Khalid Moidu is the program director of the Master of Science in Health Informatics program. He is a medical graduate and earned his doctorate in medical informatics and general practice from the Linköping University in Linköping, Sweden. Dr. Moidu has been a faculty member at Norwalk Hospital (Yale Residency program), Montana Tech, Purdue University, Orlando Health residency program, and George Mason University. He has held operational leadership roles in acute and ambulatory settings. At Orlando Health, he helped the organization better engage with its physicians. He worked with the medical staff executive committee to establish physician governance on HIT initiatives such as the computerized provider order entry (CPOE), which resulted in adoption rates as high as 95 percent in 2009. As the CIO and CMIO for Family Physicians Group of Florida, he organized support for the "patient-centered medical home," and all 27 clinical offices were accredited at Level 3 by NCQA. The FPG-ACO was managed by data driven operations and managed savings with earnings all three years with support of the in-house development of an "applied analytics" platform. In 2013, he was named "CIO of the Year" in Florida by Orlando Business Journal in the big business category. He strives to improve care and contain costs with a well-trained workforce.
