Hands-On From Day One
The Herbert School offers many avenues to express your creativity and learn real-world skills, beginning from day one. Student-led organizations and productions provide opportunities to create life-long connections, develop professionally, and create a portfolio of work to help launch your career.
From writing sitcoms to creating podcasts, there’s a student media organization or production for everyone.
Teachers, Experts, Mentors
At the Herbert School, you will learn from internationally recognized scholars, published authors, and veteran industry professionals, including Emmy Award-winners and Fulbright Scholars. Faculty bring their extensive academic and industry knowledge to the classroom in such areas as screenwriting, editing, reporting, international public relations, nonprofit advocacy, immersive media, cinematography, photojournalism, social media, crisis and reputation management, and sports media. Professors in the Department of Journalism, Media Studies, and Public Relations, and Department of Radio, Television, Film, are committed to providing Herbert School students with exceptional educational and professional learning experiences.

Mastering Media
You will thrive in the Herbert School’s hands-on learning environment with access to top-tier technology.

The newly-rebuilt WRHU 88.7 FM studios are capable of creating top-tier audio, video and social media content. -
NewsHub is a state-of-the art newsroom and collaborative space. -
Production studios - including Studio A, a three-story, 3,750-foot space - are outfitted with 4K/UHD broadcast cameras. -
The post production facility for film and TV includes a new editing classroom, screening room, color correction suite and foley studio. -
A new multimedia audio studio and control room serves as an on-air classroom that allows students to mix live music and talk shows.
