The Herbert School of Communication has state-of-the-art production and post production facilities where students learn current techniques of the communication and media industries. 

The facilities have current industry gear that allows for live multicamera video switching and live audio mixing from everything from talk shows to live band performances.

Production Studios

The Herbert School of Communication has three production studios. These studios have been used for television shows, film productions, large events, commercial rental, and student extracurricular projects.

Studio A is a three-story, 3,750-square-foot studio with12 individualized controlled motor lighting grids. The lighting grids have 250+ dimmers with over 200 lighting fixtures available for use. Studio A has four Hitachi 4K/UHD broadcast cameras, a hard cyclorama wall, and full curtain. 

Studio B is a two-story, 1000-square-foot studio with a fixed grid and 125 dimmers. The studio has a green screen cyclorama, full curtain, and wireless microphone and intercom units. Studio B has three Hitachi 4K/UHD cameras.

Studio C is a one-story, 750-square-foot "black box" studio with 50 dimmers. Studio C is often used for insert shoots and classroom space.

WRHU Studios

The expert engineers at The Lawrence Herbert School of Communication, along with first class vendors (Wheatstone, RCS, Comrex, Telos, Multi-Cam, and others), have re-defined “radio” studios. They built five state-of-the-art multi-media studios capable of creating top tier audio content, video content, and social media content.

WRHU Radio Studio

NewsHub

NewsHub is a state-of-the-art newsroom and collaboration space containing Avid Media Composer non-linear digital editing software with ENPS integration, as well as the latest and most useful information management and handling tools. Large screen displays provide current news and resource materials, while cross-media information coordination systems help manage content.

The facility has high-speed networking capabilities and a robust digital infrastructure that keep student reporters and Herbert School students actively engaged in news acquisition, creation, and collaboration. The NewsHub is often used a resource for students working on The Long Island Advocate, an online student-run news site.
