Sports Media Curriculum

Hofstra University students have access to three sports-focused degree options at the Lawrence Herbert School of Communication. Journalism BA and Public Relations BA majors may select an optional Sports concentration, while the interdepartmental Bachelor of Science in Sports Media is the latest and most intensive offering.

The Sports Media BS degree draws upon the strengths of faculty across multiple disciplines and combines real-world experience in professional settings with coursework in journalism, television, public relations and strategic communication, media studies, and audio/radio. Students develop a strong understanding of the development, use, and production of sports media in all its forms and an expertise in telling stories from the athletes’ perspective and their impact on society and culture.
