How We Engage NOAH Scholars

NOAH Scholars are provided with academic engagement initiatives that promote their cognitive, intellectual and social development. The NOAH Program as a learning community, promotes the academic success of its participants by facilitating students’ contact with faculty and staff, helping students develop purposeful, educative and supportive relationships among their peers, to transition successfully to college, develop self-efficacy as learners and excel academically.

Undergraduate learning and academic success are greatly enhanced when students have consistent access to educational opportunities that enhance their level of engagement with faculty and peers while challenging them to think critically, and develop complex reasoning writing and other skills that prepare them for lifelong leadership. Researchers have found that these learning experiences have an even greater impact on the academic success of students who have been historically underserved in higher education. NOAH Scholars have access to educational opportunities that promote learning and academic success.
