The Calkins Society of Hofstra University recognizes alumni and friends who have provided for Hofstra's future by including a bequest or other deferred gifts in their estate plan. Your support helps to ensure that the University will carry on its important work. By naming the University in your will, you will also obtain an estate tax charitable deduction equal to the amount donated to Hofstra. If you are planning to name Hofstra University in your will, please be sure to notify the Advancement Office so we may acknowledge your thoughtfulness and philanthropy.
It is strongly recommended that a qualified lawyer be employed to prepare your will and supervise its execution in order to comply with the requirements of the law of the state in which the maker of the will resides. It is also wise to give the University considerable latitude in the use of any fund so that a change of circumstances may not impair the usefulness of the gift. Hofstra University's planned giving staff will be glad, upon request, to review the phrasing of any proposed form of bequest.
