Past Traditions/New Voices in Asian Art

Juxtaposing traditional Asian subject matter with modern Western influences, this multimedia exhibition features works from contemporary Asian artists from China, India, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, and Vietnam. Artists include Xu Bing, Fx Harsono, Yun-Fei Ji, Bari Kumar, Dinh Q. Lê, Nyoman Massriadi, Shahzia Sikander, and Ai Weiwei.
This exhibition is presented in association with the Hofstra Cultural Center international conference Asia Transforming: Old Values and New Presences (September 18 - 20, 2014).
Additional exhibition funding is provided by the National Endowment for the Arts and Astoria Bank. This exhibition is also made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.
