Student Emergency Assistance Fund

Full-time Hofstra students may apply to the Dean of Students Emergency Assistance Fund for financial assistance when a personal emergency arises that impacts their ability to cover unexpected expenses related to their Hofstra education (excluding tuition and fees).

Examples of unexpected expenses may include, but are not limited to:

  • Barnes & Noble book assistance or academic supplies (Hofstra University Bookstore only)
  • Emergency meal assistance (meal cards for Hofstra on-campus dining locations)
  • Emergency car repairs (vehicle must be registered with Public Safety)
  • Other unforeseen, short-term financial hardships

Please note that this fund operates on a reimbursement-only basis and does not provide funds upfront. Students must first incur and pay the expense and then submit documentation for review.

Students must complete this application in full. All information will be reviewed and verified by the Dean of Students Office. Funds may be awarded as a gift (no repayment required) or as a loan (repayment required). When appropriate, financial need may be reviewed in consultation with Student Financial Services.

For questions or additional information, please contact the Dean of Students Office at DeanofStudents@hofstra.edu, call (516) 463-6913, or visit the office on the second floor of the Student Center, Suite 240.

*The Hofstra Student Emergency Fund was created and is supported solely by the generous gifts from Hofstra alumni, employees, families, and friends.
