Services

Media Credentialing

CPD/USSS Issued Credentials will be required on the following dates:

  • Saturday, September 24 (valid)
  • Sunday, September 25 (valid)
  • Monday, September 26 (required)

Individual media can pick up their CPD issued photo credential at the Accreditation Center on the dates and times listed below. All times listed are local, and hours may vary and are to be determined.

Large media organizations will be distributed in bulk and picked up by 1-2 representatives. Bulk distribution is by appointment only.

**All members of  the media are required to pick up their credentials before entering the perimeter. Media Credentials will be distributed during the following hours (listed in local time):

  • Saturday, September 24, 9:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
  • Sunday, September 25,  9:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
  • Monday, September 26, 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. 

Media Filing Center

The media filing center will be open 24-hours a day, and the Rate Card, School Help, Technology and CPD desks will be fully operational during the following hours:

  • Wednesday, September 21, 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
  • Thursday, September 22, 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
  • Friday, September 23, 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
  • Saturday, September 24, 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
  • Sunday, September 25, 9:00 a.m. - start of sweep
  • Monday, September 26, 7:00 a.m., until the last person leaves
  • Tuesday, September 27, 6:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

For help with anything, including transportation, restaurants, supplies, copies, student volunteers or information, visit our Hospitality desk, located in the back corner of the Media Filing Center, near the Rate Card Desk.

Media Parking during the debate period will be in the following lot:
Mitchel Field on Earle Ovington Blvd.

A schedule for the shuttles serving the lot will be available in the accreditation office when you pick up your credentials or on the transportation page.

Spin Alley Locations

Locals/others draw Friday, September 23 at 10:00 a.m.

Outdoor Stand-up Locations

Outdoor Stand-up Locations will be operational from Wednesday, 9/21 through 2 p.m. on Tuesday 9/27 (when tear down begins). You must purchase an exterior stand-up location from the rate card.

The CPD team will be hosting a lottery draw for the outdoor platform assignments on the following schedule:
Local/others draw Friday, September 23 at 9:00 a.m.
Media organizations must have a representative present to draw.

Network Workspace

Network Workspace will be accessible from Wednesday, 9/21 through 2 p.m. on Tuesday, 9/27 (no access during the USSS security sweep.)

Food Within the Media Area

The Media Café hours of operation are as follows;

  • Wednesday, September 21, 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
  • Thursday, September 22, 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
  • Friday, September 23, 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
  • Saturday, September 24, 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
  • Sunday, September 25, 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
  • Monday, September 26, 7:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m.
  • Tuesday, September 27, 7:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Lou's Food Truck hours of operation are as follows

  • Wednesday, September 21, 11:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
  • Thursday, September 22, 11:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
  • Friday, September 23, 11:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
  • Saturday, September 24, 11:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
  • Sunday, September 25, 11:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
  • Monday, September 26, 11:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m.

Food on Campus

  • In the Student Center, there is a full-service cafeteria which includes a grill, salad bar, deli, hot selections, Yo! Bowl, Innovation Kitchen, Freshens, Starbucks, Kosher Kitchen and Sbarros.
  • In the Netherlands Cafeteria on Oak Street, there is a small cafeteria, Subway, Nathan’s and salad bar.
  • In Hofstra USA, there are several options as well.
  • Catering for all debate vendors can be obtained at https://hofstra.catertrax.com/ - There is an extensive special menu for our Debate 2016 media guests.

Truck/Trailer Parking

Parking passes for all media trucks and trailers, accompanied by map and directions to parking,  will be available at the Information Desk in the Accreditation Center and work in coordinating with the Media Center Rate Card Desk.

The Information Desk hours are:

  • Thursday, September 22, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • Friday, September 23, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • Saturday, September 24, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • Sunday, September 25, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Trucks will be able to access the parking areas on the following days:

  • Thursday, September 22.
  • Friday, September 23.
  • Saturday, September 24.
  • Sunday, September 25
    **All trucks and trailers must be in position by 3:00 pm on Sunday, September 25. After this, access is closed and no more vehicles will be allowed in until after the debate is over on Monday, September 26. There will be no access during the USSS security sweep on Sunday night.**
  • Tuesday, September 27. Tear down after 2:00 p.m.

Security

US Secret Service

All equipment and vehicles must be in their positions by 3pm on Sunday, September 25, 2016.

Vehicles must display CPD issued parking pass which includes contact information for personnel. Keys must be left with the vehicle -- on vehicle antenna or key in the outside driver’s door. All equipment cases, vehicle compartments, and vehicles must be left unlocked for the sweep. Anything not accessible to the agents (ex. padlocked) will be opened.
