Honors College

Take a Closer Look

Rabinowitz Honors College (RHC) is designed for highly motivated, high-achieving students who want to make the most of their college years. If that describes you, RHC will help by offering you:

The best of two worlds – a nurturing community in a major university

You will be part of a nurturing community of students and faculty, not unlike what you’d find at a small liberal arts college. At the same time, you will have an extraordinary range of opportunities at a university with over 140 majors in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the School of Communications, the Business School, the School of Education, and the School of Engineering and Applied Science.

An extraordinary first-year experience – Culture & Expression

Our first-year curriculum, our co-curricular, and our extra-curricular activities, and our administrative support are all designed to help you make a smooth transition from high school to college life. All first-year students participate in the RHC cluster called "Culture and Expression." In it, you will reflect on and draw your own conclusions about life's biggest questions. In addition, our faculty mentors will introduce you to one another and campus life with on-campus events, trips to New York theaters, museums, and other cultural sites, as well as to outdoor activities in the surrounding area. They’ll also help you to get involved in a variety of social service opportunities, if you wish. Each RHC entering class comes together around these shared readings, conversations, experiences, and events.

An opportunity to enrich any major and tailor your honors work to fit your specific interests – Honors Options and Honors Seminars

Once you've finished the common first-year experience of Culture & Expression, you are free to tailor your honors work to fit your specific interests. Our Honors Option program allows you to earn honors credits in virtually any regular course. Thus, you can follow your passions and put your energies where you feel they will best benefit you and your education. In addition, each semester you can choose from a variety of exciting RHC Seminars that are designed to provide students and faculty an opportunity to explore unique topics in depth.
