What is sports science?
Sports science is the application of the scientific principles to exercise and sport. The area of study focuses on the developmental, mechanical, psychological, and physiological perspectives of human movement. Students study a wide range of topics from physiology, anatomy, nutrition, exercise physiology, rehabilitation, exercise techniques, and exercise program design. The program is designed for students who to plan to work in the fitness and exercise industry, strength and conditioning, physical therapy, or any other field where human movement and exercise prescription is the focus.

Is there a specific bachelor's degree required to apply?
Strength and Conditioning concentration: A bachelor's degree is required, preferably in exercise science, health and fitness, physical education, or another related area.

Exercise Physiology concentration: A bachelor's degree in exercise science, health and fitness, athletic training, physical education, or another related area that includes undergraduate coursework in exercise physiology, kinesiology, and exercise testing and prescription is required.
When are classed offered?
Courses are offered in the evenings Monday through Thursday, beginning at 4:30 p.m., 6:30 p.m., and 8:30 p.m. Students can take advantage of courses offered throughout Hofstra's academic calendar: fall, January, spring, and summer.
How long does it take students to complete the program?
Students typically complete the program in 1.5 years, including one summer session.
Are there scholarships and financial aid available?
There are limited scholarships available for those who apply. Application materials are reviewed to evaluate potential success in the classroom and the field. While the deadline for admission is rolling, those interested in scholarship opportunities are encouraged to apply early for their semester of interest.
