Art of the Dogon

February 8 – July 22, 2022
David Filderman Gallery

Art of the Dogon features works by the Dogon people of Mali that are drawn from the Museum’s extensive and highly regarded collection of African Art. The Dogon live in one of West Africa’s most spectacular landscapes, a row of cliffs known as the Bandiagara Escarpment, located in the central plateau region of Mali. Their complex mythology and sophisticated visual arts capture the imagination. The sculptures, masks, jewelry, and other works in the exhibition point to the significance of art in their daily life.
