M.S. in Computer Science
Our graduate program offers a truly unique and exciting learning experience for those who are interested in pursuing a highly successful career in the dynamic field of computing. The curriculum emphasizes hands-on experiences, in-depth research explorations, and offers a strong core in the fundamental areas of computer science. Course delivery is flexible – both on-line and on-campus courses are available. The program can be taken fully on-line. All on-line courses have the same content as on-campus ones. Our full-time faculty consists of successful researchers, receiving multiple federal and national research grants. Our adjunct faculty includes successful practitioners and leaders in the industry. This 30-credit program provides substantial training in a variety of important areas such as networking, security, web engineering, distributed computing, mobile application development, project management, database systems, computer vision, etc. In our classes, you will build mobile applications for cell phones, have concrete experiences with ethical hacking and counter approaches against security threats, trace into the most recent malware and viruses, construct sophisticated and scalable web services, define privacy policies for large organizations, and develop exciting computer vision applications. In this program, you will develop essential skills that enable your immediate success in your career.
The curriculum also offers a strong core in the fundamental areas of computer science such as: algorithms, operating systems and programming languages. These foundational courses, in the long run, allow you to adapt with ease to the dynamic field of computing. In addition to the mandatory and elective courses, you can focus in your own area of interest by taking up to two independent study/research courses under the close supervision of a faculty expert. The program concludes with a comprehensive project or a master’s thesis.
Interested students may fulfill their elective requirements by fulfilling the requirements for the following two concentrations: (1) Web Engineering and (2) Networking and Security.
