On Thursday, October 8, 2020, the PhD program in Applied Organizational Psychology hosted the second Research Colloquium in fall 2020. Third-year PhD students, Jess Rigos and Rita Wang, presented their experimental study examining selection strategies manipulated at different AI levels on hiring decision-makers’ reactions. In this study, Rigos and Wang examined whether hiring decision-makers would react differently to the use of AI and human-expert raters across two fundamental employee selection practices: the LinkedIn and interview assessment. Findings indicate that hiring decision-makers prefer to use their professional judgment to evaluate job candidates as opposed to structured AI enabled assessments across both assessments. Dr. Kevin Nolan is the research advisor.

Join us on future research activities.
