Undergraduate Degrees & Programs

The Department of Engineering in the Fred DeMatteis School of Engineering and Applied Science at Hofstra University offers seven distinct engineering degree programs. Engineers of all specialties are in demand in industry and in research. Nearly 100% of recent undergraduate degree recipients who responded to a survey (or other reliable source) reported that they were employed or attending or planning to attend graduate school within one year of graduation. Majors

  • BIOENGINEERING
    Bioengineering is designed to bridge the gap between the life sciences and physical sciences.
  • CIVIL ENGINEERING
    Civil engineers design and supervise large construction projects, including roads, buildings, airports, tunnels, dams, bridges, and systems for water supply and sewage treatment.
  • ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING
    Electrical engineers design, develop, test, and supervise the manufacturing of electrical equipment.
  • ENGINEERING SCIENCE
    The program combines a cross-disciplinary approach to give students the background to solve complex challenges through an understanding of scientific principles and engineering design.
  • INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING
    Industrial engineering is concerned with the optimal utilization of integrated systems of people, methods, materials, machines, and energy to achieve organizational goals.
  • MECHANICAL ENGINEERING
    Mechanical engineers research, design, develop, build, and test mechanical devices including tools, engines, and complex dynamical systems.

Through cutting-edge courses, offered both online and on campus, gain what you need to assess and manage new and existing technologies specific to a company’s needs. Receive valuable hands-on experience prior to graduation through internships and paid positions through our co-op program. No GRE is required and the program is open to those without work experience. Scholarships are available for qualified candidates.
