The third annual conference of the Luce Irigaray Circle, co-sponsored by Hofstra University and Stony Brook University, will be held at Hofstra on September 12-13, 2008. Luce Irigaray is the author of over twenty major works of feminist philosophy, and her new books Sharing the World and Teaching, will both appear in August 2008 from Continuum Books. The conference will include scholarly presentations on all aspects of Luce Irigaray's philosophy, as well as a lecture by the Joseph G. Astman Distinguished Conference Scholar, Professor Alison Stone of Lancaster University, UK, author of Luce Irigaray and the Philosophy of Sexual Difference (Cambridge University Press, 2006), and a live teleconference by Luce Irigaray herself.
The Luce Irigaray Circle, which held its inagual conference at the Manhattan facility of Stony Brook University in September of 2006, is a group of scholars and artists dedicated to the study of the philosophy of Luce Irigaray, and comprises members from institutions across the United States and Canada, as well as the UK, continental Europe, Asia and Australia.
