Dr. Grant Saff, Chair of the Department of Global Studies and Geography, invited to give a paper on Globalization and the challenges facing Universities, at the University of Guadalajara, Mexico – August 19, 2013
Grant Saff, being presented with a certificate by Dr. Antonio Sanchez Bernal, Chair of the Department of Regional Studies, University of Guadalajara.
In August, Dr. Grant Saff, Chair of the Department of Global Studies and Geography, was invited to Guadalajara to give a paper to the faculty of the Department of Regional Studies (Center for Business and Economics), at the University of Guadalajara. The paper was titled, "How Globalization has Challenged the Future of Universities, Departments and Academic Disciplines." While in Mexico, Professor Saff also met with Dr. Basilio Verduzco, the President, Alumni Association, El Colegio de la Frontera Norte, Tijuana, Baja California, where they discussed possible future collaborative urban projects. He also was invited to visit Puerto Vallarta, where he had meetings with Alvaro Mora Maciel, the Director of Economic Development for the city and Ramon Willman Zamora, the Administrative Coordinator, Economic Development. At these meetings he provided advice for possible strategies for the redevelopment of a downtown neighborhood.
