On the Job Experience
The DeMatteis School of Engineering and Applied Science offers a co-operative (co-op) educational program, giving qualified engineering and computer science students real work experience at engineering and technology firms both locally and nationwide. Students who participate in the DeMatteis School co-op program are hired by a participating company after the fall or spring semester of their junior year, and work on salary for a six- to eight-month period in a field related to their degree program. Upon completion of the co-op experience, students return to Hofstra to satisfy the remainder of their degree requirements.
This experience may lead to full-time job offers from companies that have had the opportunity to evaluate the potential and skills of their co-op employees. At a minimum, students have a record of professional experience on their resume. Read more…
