| 11:10 a.m.-12:35 p.m. | Deliberative Democracy Forum – Energy Policy in the 21st Century Come participate in a student-facilitated, round-table discussion evaluating U.S. energy policy. This session is part of an ongoing CCE project training students to take part in deliberative discussions in the community and enhance their civic literacy. The forum will be led by CCE fellows. |

The Thrift Store/Clothing Drop is coordinated in conjunction with the Fashion Reform Club, and the Center for Civic Engagement (CCE). |

Hear from risk managers who are already responding to a warmer climate, a rising sea level, and disruptions in established weather patterns on Long Island and across our region. | 7-9:30 p.m. | Documentary: Crisis in the Congo: Uncovering the Truth The crisis in the Congo is one of the greatest humanitarian challenges of the 21st century. The United Nations says the Congo conflict " ... is the deadliest in the world since World War II." Yet, the crisis remains largely invisible, even though the world continues to benefit from Congo's rich natural resources that are key to the functioning of our cell phones and other electronic devices. These devices are made at the cost of many Congolese lives. . After the documentary screening, we will discuss how this crisis is linked to the global struggle for preservation, sustainability and social justice. Led by CCE Fellow Christian Mpoy. This event is co-sponsored by the Hofstra Afrikan Students Association, Collegiate Women of Color, African Studies Program, H*NT, the Hofstra chapter of NAACP. |
