The Global Studies and Geography Department's Fall 2017 Open House
The Global Studies and Geography Department’s Fall Open House was held Thursday, September 14th in our lounge. We had an amazing turnout, especially from students who were new to the department and to Hofstra. Students caught up with old friends about their summer activities and discussed their semester plans, while also making new friends. First-year students got to talk to upperclassmen and get advice on Hofstra Life, studying abroad, and GS/GEOG courses and professors. Upon hearing about the new GIS programs in the department, many new students gained an interest in taking the one-credit Fun with Maps & GIS course to try their hand at mapping and see if they want to extend their knowledge on the subject further. While snacking on pizza, fruit, and other delicious munchies, students were also able to chat with faculty members about topics ranging from human rights to who can speak with a better Scottish accent. Thank you to everyone that was able to attend, and keep your eyes open for our next event, One-Stop Open-Advisement on October 5th!
