About Hofstra

Internships & Experiential Learning

A Hofstra education is about more than what you learn in the classroom, and students in the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences (HCLAS) have the opportunity to undertake internships at a wide range of industries and organizations, including publishing houses, non-profit groups, the United States Congress, the New York State Assembly and the United Nations.

Getting real world experience from an internship, a study abroad program or field research with a distinguished professor is a critical part of your preparation for life after college. National studies show that employers look very favorably on college graduates who have internships as part of their undergraduate experience.

Beyond that, we understand that internships and other experiential learning programs give students a chance to apply what they've learned, help them discover what they love to do, and allow them to make better-informed choices about their future. There are countless such examples in HCLAS: the student who fell in love with archaeology after taking a class where he worked at a local excavation site that was once an 18th century slave quarter; and the history/psychology major who enrolled in an internship with the U.S. Marshals Service and now plans to pursue a career in law enforcement.

College is about exploration and preparation; internships provide a path to self-discovery even as they prepare you to enter the workplace. We& invite you to learn more about Hofstra College internships by consulting our web page, talking to the chair of your department, or contacting Assistant Dean Rene Giminiani-Caputo, the Hofstra College Internship Coordinator.
