Parents and families are welcome to email us your questions to parents@hofstra.edu prior to any of these events, either related or unrelated to the programming’s topics. All virtual events will be recorded for later viewing. To attend most events, especially those that are virtual, registration is required through the provided links.

It is a special treat for our excellent international students to participate in Thanksgiving dinner, an American tradition. This program (online or in-person) will give your students a head start on meeting important career readiness milestones prior to the spring semester. This workshop is designed to explore the concept of belonging and its impact on academic success, mental health, and overall well-being. The workshop will begin with an introduction to the concept of belonging and its importance in the context of higher education. The workshop will also cover strategies, resources, and the role of parents in supporting their college-aged children in their journey toward belonging. Participants will leave with a deeper understanding of the importance of belonging in the college setting and practical strategies for promoting a sense of community and connection within their respective communities. The workshop will also cover strategies, resources, and the role of parents in supporting their college-aged children in their journey toward belonging. Overall, this workshop is designed to be interactive, engaging, and informative. Participants will leave with a deeper understanding of the importance of belonging in the college setting and practical strategies for promoting a sense of community and connection within their respective communities. The speaker and moderator is Dr. Aisha Wilson-Carter, Associate Director of Equity and Inclusion, Hofstra University.

Hofstra Gala
On Thursday, May 4, Hofstra University will host its 27th Annual Gala, honoring Dr. Kathleen Gallo, PhD, MBA, RN, FAAN Founding Dean and Professor at the Hofstra Northwell School of Nursing and Physician Assistant Studies. This important event continues to raise funds for student scholarships. Parent and Family Council and I invite you to be a part of this special celebration.

Parents and families can participate in the following ways:

  1. Buy tickets or tables for the Gala. You can also sponsor a student or a faculty member to attend. If you wish to sit with other Hofstra parents, please write "Parent Table" on the form.
  2. Buy Gala Journal ads. This is especially attractive for businesses as those online ads stay on the Hofstra Gala website for one full year. The ads will also scroll on the big screens during the Gala. Hofstra Gala is a premier networking event not only for the Hofstra community but also for local and nationwide businesses.
  3. If you want to donate (any amount) toward the Parent and Family Council journal ad please donate here and write "PFC Journal Ad" under Designation > Other. After you complete the donation, please email parents@hofstra.edu with the amount of your donation so we can add your donation toward the PFC Journal Ad.

If you want to pay by check, please make it out to Hofstra University and mail it to Parent and Family Programs, 240 Mack Student Center, 200 Hofstra University, Hempstead NY 11549. Again, your purchase or donation funds Hofstra student scholarships.

We warmly invite parents and family members to visit Hofstra campus at its most beautiful when many varieties of tulips and trees are in bloom. The Tulips, Trees, and Tea is taking place on Saturday, May 6, 2023. The event is free but parents and family members must register here. What a great event for a mom or a grandma (or dad or grandad) the week before Mother's Day! Our University photographer can take a photo of your family that you will be able to download. Enjoy Hofstra's Arboretum in full spring splendor!
