Welcome to Hofstra Pride! While the Welcome Week for students takes place for five days before the classes begin, September 1 through 5, below is the program for the parents and families, both the in-person program on September 1 and 2 and the online program during the week before and after:

If you have any questions, want to write a note to your student, or register for Family Weekend, we are here to help. Your student received their move-in time in their housing assignment email in June.

ASK PARENT AND FAMILY COUNCIL
Mack Student Center Atrium, North Campus
Members of the Parent and Family Council answer your questions and explain how parents can get involved. Their table will be next to Hofstra Bookstore. You may drop off your donation of clean and gently used professional clothing for the Career Closet there.

FAMILY MINI-ORIENTATION

If you did not attend Family Orientation this summer, please join us for this brief version of the orientation program for parents. Students begin their Welcome Week program at 3:30 p.m.; please say your goodbyes before heading to the family orientation.

FAREWELL COFFEE FOR FAMILIES

Join President Susan Poser, current Hofstra parents, and Hofstra staff for a cup of coffee or tea. Please say goodbye to your student BEFORE the coffee. Students begin their Welcome Week program and continue all five days through Monday, September 5. The classes start on Tuesday, September 6, 2022.

HOW WILL MY ROLE AS A PARENT CHANGE?
Greenhouse, Lower Level, Mack Student Center
Your child is now a college student and still needs you. Diane Herbert, dean of the Center for Academic Excellence, Merry McVey Noble, assistant clinical director at Student Counseling Services, and Branka Kristic, director of Parent and Family Programs, will lead this interactive on-campus workshop to discuss the developmental milestones your student is going through and examine parenting methods proven effective with young and emerging adults. Dr. McVey Noble will talk about our students’ post-traumatic growth and building of resilience. Dr. Herbert will share the survey results that reveal how our new students view their strengths as well as the challenges they anticipate having in the first year of college.
