The Zarb Executive Speaker Series invited high level c-suite executives from all industries to speak to students every semester. The executives are leaders in their field and share their expertise within the industry in addition to their outlook on future developments. They also discuss the keys to success and how they climbed the corporate ladder. Following their discussion, students have the opportunity to network with these executives and build relationships within the industry.

Hartley and Hoexter interviewed nearly 50 leaders, from foundations such as Rockefeller Brothers Fund, Robin Hood, Ford, Annie E. Casey, B. Altman, Newman’s Own, and William & Flora Hewlett, to nonprofits such as PBS, Independent Sector, Goodwill Industries International, YMCA of the USA, Girl Scouts, Share Our Strength, The Nature Conservancy, and DoSomething.org. H2Growth has also partnered with 100 nonprofits to raise over $1.5 billion. These dynamic leaders discussed how to implement solutions in communities across the United States and around the world while also highlighting the qualities non-profit leaders possess and profound insights on lessons learned. Hartley and Hoexter held open dialogue with Zarb students, alumni and special guests to address the key principles of effecting social change.

Steven Levitt, partner at Levitt LLP, recognized by Forbes as a top “Leader in Law”, spoke to students as part of the Frank G. Zarb School of Business’ Undergraduate Executive Speaker Series. Levitt graduated from the business school magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa with highest departmental honors, and went on to earn a Juris Doctorate from Hofstra Law. He expressed to students the importance of identifying and gravitating toward people in their lives who inspire them, whether that person is a professor, a manager, or a friend. “You always have to be willing to learn,” Levitt remarked. “Some things you learn intentionally and some things you learn by accident.” Realizing individual potential by exploring one’s own strengths and weaknesses is a process that Levitt emphasized as being a huge catalyst of his own career as a successful attorney and business owner. He explained how self-confidence and persistence are the two main factors that aided him in his educational and professional careers.
