WRHU Student Broadcasters Proudly Produce & Distribute New York Islanders Live Game Radio Broadcasts
Since the 2010-11 NHL season students at WRHU have continuously produced and distributed live game broadcasts for the NHL’s NY Islanders.
The NY Islanders Radio Network epicenter is WRU FM. Dozens of students work on these historic broadcasts. Students connect to the rink from our state-of-the-art Richard Phillip Cavallaro studio. They mix in all the elements of each game (play-by-play, commentary, player interviews, features, sports updates, pre-game, intermission reports, post-game, highlights, coaches press conference, locker room player interviews done by students on-site, and much more. Over 1,200 live NY Islanders games have been produced by WRHU students and there’s more to come.
You can hear student produced NY Islanders live game broadcasts on WRHU FM, WRCN FM, Sirius/XM, NHL app, NHL.com, and the NY Islanders + UBS Arena app.
Over the years, students have produced, engineered, and performed on-air roles for NY Islanders live game broadcasts on ESPN Radio New York City (1050AM or 98.7FM), Sports radio WFAN New York City, WCBS 880 NYC, Salem 970AM NYC, WNYE FM and the Radio.com.
