RISE Spring Break 2027 Destination: Finland

Join the inaugural 2027 RISE cohort as we travel to Finland, home to one of the most widely studied and highly regarded education systems in the world.

Known for its emphasis on equity, student well-being, and teacher autonomy, Finland offers a unique opportunity to examine how educational policy and classroom practice align to support student success. Through direct engagement with schools and institutions, students will explore how Finnish educators foster collaboration, critical thinking, and holistic development.

What makes Finland’s education system distinctive:

  • A strong focus on educational equity and access for all students
  • Highly trained, research-based teacher preparation programs
  • An emphasis on student well-being and balanced learning
  • Minimal standardized testing and a focus on authentic assessment
  • Trust-based systems that empower teachers as professionals

During the program, students will visit a range of educational settings and engage with educators to better understand how these principles are implemented in practice.
