Designed for high-achieving first-year students, the Innovation Scholars Program empowers participants to explore groundbreaking ideas, collaborate with faculty and industry leaders, and make an impact through research, entrepreneurship, and technology-driven solutions.

Innovation Scholars are selected from among the most accomplished first-year students admitted to the DeMatteis School. As part of this distinguished community, Scholars receive exclusive access to mentoring, research opportunities, and professional development experiences that accelerate academic and career success.

Program Goals
The DeMatteis Dean’s Innovation Scholars Program aims to:
- Inspire innovative thinking and creative problem-solving.
- Support student-led projects that drive technological and social impact.
- Build a collaborative community of students, faculty, and industry mentors.
- Prepare students for advanced study, leadership roles, and successful careers in engineering and technology.
- A minimum high school GPA of 3.4 (on a 4.0 scale).
- Enrollment in Calculus I or higher during the first semester.
- Maintain a minimum 3.5 GPA each academic year.
- Participate in DeMatteis School clubs, organizations, or project teams.
- Attend Innovation Scholars events and professional development sessions.
The DeMatteis Dean’s Innovation Scholars distinction reflects excellence, leadership, and engagement. Scholars are celebrated annually and receive:
- A program pin each year of participation.
- A certificate of achievement and a graduation stole upon successful completion.
Graduating Innovation Scholars join an elite group of DeMatteis leaders and innovators recognized for their contributions to advancing technology and engineering.
