EQUITY AND INCLUSION

Inspiring Meaningful Progress in Access, Community, and Teaching
About the Inaugural Hofstra IMPACT Awards
The Hofstra IMPACT Awards recognize and celebrate members of the campus community (individuals, organizations, office units, or academic units) whose leadership, service, scholarship, and advocacy foster an inclusive, equitable, and thriving university environment. Grounded in intentional action and innovation, the awards honor those who create meaningful opportunities for access, belonging, and academic excellence. Conferred awards highlight campus partners whose work strengthens our shared commitment and institutional values of equity and inclusion. Through leadership, advocacy, research, mentorship, and collaboration, recipients serve as catalysts for meaningful institutional progress and enduring IMPACT.
The Torch
The torch serves as an enduring symbol, representing knowledge, power, and hope across generations. While its meaning may vary depending on context, its significance remains consistent. The torch is often viewed as a force against ignorance and darkness, reflecting both its constructive and destructive potential. The IMPACT Awards honor the light bearers among us who responsibly harness their abilities and use their illumination to brighten pathways for access, success, and opportunity for others.
