Peer Mentorship Opportunity
Hofstra's Peer Alliance Program connects students through mentorship and co-curricular learning. We are currently offering six different mentor tracks: Global (International), PRISM (LGBTQ+), Commuter, Transfer, Access and Diversity Peer Mentors. Applications still available are Commuter, Transfer, Access and Diversity Peer Mentors, which are all due by Thursday, March 1st at noon.

Hofstra University Peer Alliance

Please note that ALL mentors will be required to attend MANDATORY training on August 23rd and 24th. Please contact PeerAlliance[at]hofstra.edu with any questions or concerns.

Transfer Mentors
The Office of Student Leadership and Engagement houses this Peer Alliance Track. For more information visit Hofstra.edu/OSLE or email OSLE[at]Hofstra.edu. A Transfer Mentor conveys information, provides peer guidance and social support to a small cohort of new transfer students. Transfer Mentors nominated to join the program will collaborate with their paired colleagues to aid in navigating and ease their transition into the Hofstra community.

Commuter Mentor
Off Campus Living and Commuting Student Services houses this Peer Alliance Track. For more information visit Hofstra.edu/Commuting or email Commuters[at]Hofstra.edu. The Commuter Mentor branch of the Peer Alliance is dedicated to welcoming commuter students to Hofstra University. We seek to encourage student involvement, foster genuine connections, and supply students with resources to comfortably and confidently acclimate to the Hofstra community.

Global Mentors
International Student Affairs houses this Peer Alliance Track. For more information visit Hofstra.edu/globalmentors. Global Mentor provides pre-arrival communication to a group of students, helps with international student orientation and arrival services, and provides support to the new international students throughout their first semester. Global Mentors selected into the program act as intercultural liaisons to the new international students to aid them with their adjustment to life at Hofstra and in the U.S.

PRISM Mentors
Intercultural Engagement and Inclusion houses this Peer Alliance Track. For more information visit Hofstra.edu/IEI or email iei[at]hofstra.edu. The Hofstra University Prism Peer Mentorship program is designed to connect and pair Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning, Intersex, & A/sexual/romantic (LGBTQIA+) first year students with upper class mentors from across campus. Focusing on providing a positive and intentional social and academic transition to Hofstra through connectivity and regular connections with fellow members of the LGBTQ community across campus.
After training on the tenets of PRISM (Positivity, Respect, Intentionality, Student-Focus, and Mentorship), mentors will be ready to provide the incoming students who opt into the program a worthwhile experience and transition into life at Hofstra University. Please keep in mind that this is at least a one semester commitment to meet regularly with your first year mentee and take them to an array of programs to help them transition into the Hofstra life.

Diversity Peer Mentor
Intercultural Engagement and Inclusion (IEI) houses this Peer Alliance track. Diversity Peer Mentor (DPM) program focuses on providing a positive and intentional social and academic transition to Hofstra through connectivity and regular connections. The DPM program support and foster a comprehensive and empowering University environment by recognizing the need for proactive involvement in dialogue, to build a unified campus community that celebrates and welcomes diversity. The DPM program is designed to produce a group of student leaders who embody the PRIDE Principles, support & stand in solidarity with those who are feeling marginalized or underrepresented, as they transition into Hofstra.

Access Mentors
Student Access Services (SAS) houses this Peer Alliance track. Access Peer Mentor (APM) program focuses onproviding a positive and intentional social and academic transition to Hofstra through connectivity and regular connections. The APM program support and foster a comprehensive and empowering University environment by recognizing the need for proactive involvement in dialogue, to build a unified campus community that celebrates and welcomes students with disabilities. The APM program is designed to produce a group of student leaders who embody the PRIDE Principles, support & stand in solidarity with those who are feeling marginalized or underrepresented, as they transition into Hofstra.
