FRATERNITY & SORORITY LIFE

HOW TO JOIN

Why Be Greek at Hofstra University?

Fraternity and Sorority Life is an important part of the co-curricular experience of the students at Hofstra University. Students who are involved outside the classroom do better academically, report a more satisfying educational experience, and persist to graduation in greater numbers than their counterparts who choose not to become involved. Fraternity and Sorority Life is built upon a commitment to the ritualistic values of their organizations, a commitment to service, an understanding of their responsibility for being a contributing member of the community, and to the personal and professional development of members.

Multicultural Fraternity & Sorority Council

Multicultural Council (MFSC) organizations conduct a process called “intake” for aspiring members of their organizations. Intake processes are not regularly scheduled occurrences, so aspiring members can learn when MFSC organizations are conducting intake by following their social media accounts and by looking for their flyers posted on bulletin boards in the David S. Mack Student Center and other areas on campus. Anyone interested in joining an MFSC organization will learn about the organization’s specific requirements for membership by attending that organization’s Interest Meeting.

MFSC is comprised of three (3) Divine 9 organizations which are historically-black organizations and one (1) South Asian-interest sorority in the community.
