Bio

Robert (Bob) Brinkmann, PhD, is the Vice Provost for Scholarship and Research and Dean of Graduate Studies at Hofstra University.  He is also a Professor of Geology, Environment, and Sustainability at Hofstra University. He is a member of the Board of the National Cave and Karst Research Institute and is an Associate Editor for the Journal of Cave and Karst Studies and the Editor of Suburban Sustainability. Brinkmann has appeared on a number of national news outlets as an expert on geologic and environmental issues including CBS News and CNN.  His blog, On the Brink, which focuses on environmental and sustainability issues is widely read. He is the author of many articles and several books including Sinkholes of Florida:  Science and Policy and Urban Sediment Removal.  His newest book, Introduction to Sustainability, was published by John Wiley and Sons in 2016 and he has two new books, Case Studies in Suburban Sustainability and Palgrave Handbook of Environmental Sustainability in the works. He is also the editor for environmental sustainability for Palgrave Macmillan. He was a recent recipient of the Eddie Mitchell Human Rights Award.
