Professor Michael Haber is a Clinical Professor of Law and directs the Community and Economic Development (CED) Clinic at Hofstra. He has devoted his legal career to representing community-based organizations, social movement groups, and cooperatives, collectives, social enterprises, and other small businesses.

His scholarship focuses on the intersections between community development and community institution-building, non-profit law, and movement lawyering, and he has spoken nationally to both legal and community activist audiences on activist organizational structures and mutual aid.

In addition to the CED Clinic, Professor Haber has directed Hofstra's Disaster Recovery Clinic and its Entrepreneurship and Intellectual Property Clinical Practicum. Before coming to Hofstra, Professor Haber practiced CED law at Brooklyn Legal Services Corp. A ('Brooklyn A'), where his work focused on affordable housing development, non-profit lobbying and political activity compliance, and non-profit mergers and acquisitions. He began his career at Brooklyn A as an Equal Justice Works Fellow focused on the preservation of syndicated low-income housing tax credit properties. At Fordham Law School, he was a Stein Scholar and recipient of the Archibald R. Murray Public Service Award.

Professor Haber is active in a variety of community-based organizations and social movement groups in New York City and on Long Island. He is a past director of the ABA Business Law Section's Committee on Community Economic Development and a co-founder of the NYC-CED Network.
