Anthony J. Santella is an Associate Professor of Public Health and teaches in the Master of Public Health (MPH), Community Health, Health Sciences, and LGBTQ+ studies programs at Hofstra University. Dr. Santella is a public health scientist and health services researcher specializing in infectious disease prevention and control. He is particularly interested in HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis C, and emerging diseases like novel coronavirus (COVID-19). He hopes his research allows vulnerable communities such as people with HIV or Hepatitis C, incarcerated persons, LGBTQ+ persons, youth and adolescents, and people experiencing homelessness achieve their full health potential.

Dr. Santella received the Health Innovation Impact Award from Adelphi University (with colleagues Christel Hyden and Rafael Figueroa) in 2017, the World AIDS Day Special Recognition Award from the New York State Department of Health in 2018, and the Professional Service Award from the Hispanic Counseling Center in 2019.

Dr. Santella earned a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Connecticut, a MPH in Health Policy and Management from Emory University, a Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) in Health Systems Management from Tulane University, and an Advanced Certificate in Health Professions Pedagogy and Leadership from Hofstra University. He is also a Master Certified Health Education Specialist (MCHES).
