Maryam Franzella

Bio

Professor Franzella entered academia in 2015 and joined the faculty of Hofstra Law School in 2019. Previously she taught Legal Writing and Lawyering Skills at Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law. She also has experience teaching sociology courses, introduction to law, and bar exam preparation.

Before joining Hofstra, Professor Franzella practiced law for ten years, including at the law firms Lazer, Aptheker, Rosella & Yedid, P.C. as a senior commercial litigation associate, and Hogan Lovells, LLP, as a consumer finance litigation attorney. She has been admitted to practice in New York and Florida, and has represented clients as lead counsel in numerous state and federal court actions.

Professor Franzella is a member of the Boards of Trustees of the Theodore Roosevelt American Inn of Court and the Nassau County Museum of Art. She is on the diversity committee of the Association of American Law Schools’ Section on Legal Writing, Reasoning, and Research, and a member of Hofstra law school’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion council. Her writings have been published in legal periodicals and she has presented at state and national conferences.

Professor Franzella is a graduate of Fordham Law School.
