MARK L. LANDIS, professor emeritus, received his B.A. from the City College of New York in 1966 and his Ph.D. from Columbia University in 1973. For many years, Dr. Landis taught the political science department's courses on constitutional law, law and politics, and the American presidency. He also served as chair of the department from 1996-2008. His scholarly interests include American political institutions, American political development, and political psychology. Dr. Landis' publications include Joseph McCarthy: The Politics of Chaos (1987), Recent Scholarship on the Origins of the U.S. Constitution (1990), and (with Dr. Meena Bose of Hofstra) The Uses and Abuses of Presidential Ratings (2003). Dr. Landis was the co-director of Hofstra's American Studies program for thirty years and also helped to create and then direct Hofstra's Legal Education Accelerated Program (LEAP).
