CENTER FOR

CIVIC ENGAGEMENT

“What really matters from the point of view of social capital and civic engagement is not merely nominal membership, but active and involved membership.”

Robert Putnam
Bowling Alone: The Collapse and Revival of American Community

Community Engagement Starts Here

Active citizenship strengthens our communities and our democracy. The Center for Civic Engagement (CCE) empowers Hofstra students to make a meaningful difference by connecting their academic experiences with opportunities to engage locally, nationally, and globally.

Since 2007, the CCE has advanced its mission by fostering informed, engaged citizenship through hands-on experiences. The Center partners with community organizations to create meaningful service and civic engagement opportunities while offering programs and educational experiences that deepen students’ understanding of current issues and civic responsibility.
