Arriving/Credentials

Getting to the Debate Site/Media Filing Center

Visitors may either park their car at the Mitchel Field/Reckson Omni Complex (100 Charles Lindbergh Blvd, Garden City, NY  11530) and go to the site via a short shuttle ride or catch the shuttle from the Long Island Marriott.

BY CAR:
All media and vendors will have ample parking facilities at the Mitchell Field/Omni Reckson parking complex, about 5 minutes from the Debate Hall.

BY TAXI OR BY CAR SERVICE:
Drop off and pick up for all car service is in the Mitchel Field parking facility, not on the Hofstra campus. Due to security measures and temporary road closures on and around the Hofstra campus, this will be the most reliable method of getting to and from the site, especially on October 15.

BY LONG ISLAND RAIL ROAD:
Hofstra's "Blue Beetle" student shuttle service meets most trains at the Hempstead and Mineola LIRR stations. For an exact schedule of pick-ups visit the shuttle bus schedule.

If the blue beetle is not available for the train you are taking, taxis are available. Ask them to take you to the Mitchel Field parking facility on Charles Lindbergh Boulevard in Uniondale.

BY SHUTTLE BUS:
Shuttle buses will be available from the Long Island Marriott, beginning Saturday, October 13, through Wednesday, October 17. 

The Accreditation Center is located in:

There is a parking lot adjacent to the student center where you may park for up to 1 hour while you pick up your credentials. Note: If you arrive on October 16th you will not be able to use this lot.  You must go to the Omni Parking Lot and take the shuttle bus for Uncredentialed Media to the Accreditation Center. 

Accreditation Center hours:  (available for pickup of official CPD/USSS credentials)

Sunday 10/14  9am to 7pm
Monday 10/15 9am to 7pm
Tuesday 10/16 8am to 6pm

To get your credential, you will need a government-issued photo ID as well as a secondary form of ID.

 If you arrive on site early you may be given a temporary pre-debate credential.  This credential will only be good until official CPD passes are issued starting on Sunday October 14th.

Once you have your credentials you must move your vehicle to the Reckson Omni/ Mitchell Field Complex (333Earle Ovington Blvd, Uniondale, NY 11553) there will be shuttle service to the Media Filing Center beginning Thursday, October 11th.

Take the shuttle to the Media Filing Center and stop at the Hofstra Rate Card Desk to check on facility orders you have already placed or place orders you need.  If you will be in the Media Filing Center you will need to check with the CPD desk when it opens in order to be assigned a seat. Phone and data service will be turned on for you in a timely fashion.

The Media Filing Center is in the Physical Education Center on Hofstra Blvd.

Hours of Operation are:

Sunday 10/14 10am to 6pm
Monday 10/15 9am to 8pm
Tuesday 10/16 7am until the last person leaves
Wednesday 10/17 6am until 2pm

Other than on debate day there will be shuttle service starting on October 11th between the Media parking lot at the Omni Rickson field and the north end of the Media Filing Center. Service to/from the Marriott Hotel begins on Sunday the 14th. There will be students on most shuttles to help answer any questions you may have.
