The Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs is the chief academic officer of the University. The Provost's Office carries out academic policies of the faculty and president, all in support of enhancing student success.

About the Provost's Office
The Provost is responsible for the smooth operation of the academic units of the University, including all the University's schools and colleges as well as the libraries, with the exception of the medical school, which reports directly to the president’s office. The Provost also chairs the University Senate, which is the major shared governance organization.
Research and Sponsored Programs
The Office for Research and Sponsored Programs assists faculty and others in pursuit of external funding for education, research, and service endeavors primarily in the form of peer-reviewed grants or contracts.
