Welcome to Hofstra!
Starting at a new university comes with plenty of questions. Winter Orientation will help you meet other new students, get comfortable on campus, and discover the people and resources that will support you throughout your Hofstra experience.
Whether you’re beginning college or transferring to Hofstra, we look forward to welcoming you to the Pride.
What to Expect
Winter Orientation is a day to make connections and prepare for your first semester. You’ll have opportunities to:
- Meet other new students and current student leaders.
- Learn about academic support, campus services, and ways to get involved.
- Explore campus on a tour.
- Ask questions and hear directly from Hofstra staff.
You don’t need to have everything figured out before you arrive. Bring your questions, we’re here to help.

- Check-in: 9–9:45 a.m.
- Location: Sondra and David S. Mack Student Center, North Campus
- Program ends: Around 2:00 p.m.
Registration opens in late November.
Register for Orientation
Once you have completed the admission deposit and applicable orientation fee requirements, log in to the Hofstra portal with your Hofstra username and password to register.
A confirmation email will be sent to your Hofstra email address within two business days. Check that account regularly for orientation updates and important next steps.

Parents and Families
Welcome to the Hofstra community! Winter Orientation gives you an opportunity to learn about campus resources, ask questions, and explore ways to support your student’s transition.
The day includes sessions for parents and families covering financial services and supporting your student. Check the orientation schedule to see which sessions you’ll attend with your student and which are specifically for families. Your student will be able to add parents/family members to their RSVP.
Before You Arrive: Your Student Checklist
Complete these steps before Winter Orientation so you’re ready for the day.
- Upload your immunization records through Medicat in the Hofstra portal.
- Review immunization requirements and submission instructions.
- HofPass is your mobile Hofstra ID. You’ll use it to access campus services, including residence halls and meal plans if you live on campus.
- Start by uploading your photo. After your photo is approved, follow the instructions to add HofPass to your mobile device.
- View HofPass setup instructions and FAQs.
- Corq is the app you’ll use to check in at Winter Orientation and campus events.
- Download it from the Apple App Store or search for “Corq” in Google Play.
- Download Guidebook from the Apple App Store or Google Play, search for “Hofstra,” and select the Winter Orientation guide.
- The schedule will be available by late December
- Prefer to view the schedule in your browser? A web version will be available in early January.
- Review directions to Hofstra before you travel. Bring a charged phone and wear comfortable shoes for walking around campus. Parking is available in Lots 17 or 18.
Moving Into Campus Housing
- Living on campus this spring? Students with confirmed housing assignments are scheduled to move in on Thursday, January 21, 2027, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Check your Hofstra email for your move-in instructions and any requirements you need to complete before arrival.
- Remember to submit your immunization records and set up your HofPass before coming to campus to ensure no issues accessing the residence halls and utilizing your dining dollars.

Frequently Asked Questions
The orientation fee for first year and transfer undergraduate students entering in the spring is $125, paid along with the admission deposit.
Winter Orientation helps students living on campus and commuting to Hofstra connect with classmates and learn about university resources.
Confirmations are sent to your Hofstra email address. If you haven’t received a confirmation in your Hofstra email within two business days of registering, contact Orientation and New Student Programs.
