Each day will find you “submerged” in activities designed to expand your understanding of Long Island‘s marine ecosystem. Our “home base” will be Caumsett State Historic Park, a wonderful site with a 95-acre salt marsh and over 2 miles of coastline along the north shore of Long Island.
We will spend the week collecting and identifying marine organisms and using sampling equipment to understand how they adapt to change in their environment. It is a perfect high-tide week to explore the estuary by canoe, too! This is the perfect introduction to Session 3: Coastal Explorations
Note: There is a $50 surcharge per two-week session for additional materials and staff requirements.
Schedule:This is a full day program in Marine Explorer. This program will take place at Nassau BOCES Caumsett Outdoor and Environmental Education Center.
Please note that opening of on-campus summer camp or any on-campus programs will be subject to all then-current New York State and Nassau County Department of Health requirements and guidance. Any individual visiting the Hofstra campus or attending on-campus programs or camps will be required to follow all such rules and University policies relating to health and safety.
